Once again, we offered 12 young men and women the inspiring diversity of the navi4life project. During a group activity with the young people, a conversation arose with an older Focolare member. He had grown up in the former GDR. As he was Catholic, he had suffered many disadvantages, including being denied his high school diploma. Then he decided to start an apprenticeship. Between school and training, he took part in a meeting of many young people who had decided to put all their faith in the Gospel. ‘At this meeting, something became clear to me that took away all my fears and shaped me for my whole life. It was the discovery that I can always love. This alone gives my life meaning!’ I looked into the shining eyes of an elderly man who radiated a deep kindness.
