Harvest in the wasteland

We hadn't heard any news of each other for a long time. For his birthday, I had sent him, a confrere, a short greeting that had made him very happy. He wrote: "Yes, I've settled into my new job well. Somehow I'm benefiting from the long coronavirus crisis, which also extended beyond the actual pandemic period in my new parish. The fact that everything was “shut down” created something like a “wasteland” that is now open to new growth. And everyone knows that things are no longer the way they were before coronavirus. It makes a big difference not to be confronted with the famous sentence: 'But we've always done it this way! All the experiences of my career have now somehow found a place where I can contribute a lot of experience and a lot of ideas. It's an impressive and touching experience."
