Making history

Fuel prices had risen significantly. In the evening, I saw that I could save 4 pence per litre and drove to a petrol station where I rarely fill up. When I went to the cash register, I was served by a young Muslim woman. She wore a headscarf. She smiled at me and said, ‘Your face looks familar to me!’ ‘Then let's play a guessing game!’ I joked. Then she asked me if I had organised the shoe box campaign for orphans in Bosnia every year at secondary school. I happily confirmed that I had. "I think it's so cool that you give so much of yourself to other people. It really impressed me. Please keep up the good work. Our times need people like you!‘ Touched and impressed myself, I said goodbye and added: ’How wonderful that you remember and share positive things and make them powerful. That's how we write history together!"
