‘Freedom is not the freedom to do what you want, it is the responsibility to do what you have to do.’ This quote from Yehudi Menuhin, which we had included in the ‘navi4life – adventure course‘, had been in my mind for days. A physically disabled young man came by our stand, looking for an exhibition. The exhibition was at the Kaiserpfalz in Paderborn. I had an impulse: ‘Accompany him there for a moment!’ Once there, I met a friend who was with Samuel Koch, who had fallen during a sporting attempt on an entertainment show many years ago and had been living since this accident with paraplegia. He says of himself: ‘I'm not famous, I'm a famous failure!’ We got into a brief conversation – also about our project for young people, ‘navi4life’. ‘Yes, learning to navigate to inner happiness is truly our life's work!’ he told me. After a brief, heartfelt encounter, we went our separate ways. I am glad that I followed this inner voice telling me to accompany the young disabled man to his destination.
