connected for 24 hours

I met her 20 years ago as a young student. She had come to Germany for World Youth Day. She was 18 years old and had travelled alone from Brazil to Germany. As she couldn't meet her sister until later, she had spent a few days at the youth centre that I was in charge of at that time. In preparation for the WYD in Cologne, we had organised a large human chain around the city of Paderborn. I can still see her shining eyes today as we set this sign of peace. - On the night of Maundy Thursday to Good Friday this year, she joined the "24 hours connected" campaign and prayed for peace for half an hour with a partner in Ukraine. Then she sent an email: "It's so nice to hear from you! The 24 hours action was a very nice idea for Good Friday. I was very touched that I was able to take part in it from Brazil and pray with Ukrainian young people. It reminded me of the impressive activities you organised before World Youth Day 2005 in Paderborn. Didn't we put a huge human chain around the city of Paderborn and embrace the whole city?" Love remains and works.
