He is happening!

I joined 70 young people. They had asked me to prepare a "devotional moment" with them on the last day of the year.  We sat in a small preparation group. The conversation went back and forth, there was little structure to it. I wondered which was the greater love, to let it happen like that or to offer a structure. I decided in favour of the first one. The topic also remained vague. I tried hard to listen carefully to each young person. At one point, I shared an experience that highlighted God's longing to be with us humans. We decided on the topic: "He happens!" (HE - Jesus - happens among us.) Somehow a line of worship had arisen in everything.  As a mini-sermon, I shared three experiences I had had with people from different parts of the world. Each time, the presence of God could be felt in the effects of peace and joy across all borders of nation, religion, denomination and generation. The young people listened with great fascination. At the end, a personal gesture of blessing was possible. Almost everyone came. The last to come was a student. She said quietly: "I am so touched. It was so real!"
