Bring zu Jesus! - Bring to Jesus!

Vor einigen Tagen musste ich schweren Herzens ein ökumenisches Treffen für Pfarrer absagen. Aus den Medien erfuhr ich von einem Mordfall in der syrischen Community. Ich rief daher meinen Freund, den orthodoxen Priester an, und fragte ob ich irgendwie helfen kann, nicht zuletzt finanziell. Er meinte, dass er froh wäre, wenn ich darüber hinaus auch beim Begräbnis selbst anwesend sein könnte. So haben wir doch demnächst eine Gelegenheit zum Wiedersehen, wenn auch aus einem traurigen Anlass.

A few days ago,, I had to cancel an ecumenical meeting for pastors and I was sad about this.. From the media I got the information about a murder case in the Syrian community. Therefore I called my friend, the Orthodox priest, and asked if I could help somehow, maybe also financially. He said that he would be happy if I could also be present at the funeral itself. So we do have an opportunity to meet again soon, albeit on a sad occasion.

Mitten im größten Alltagsstress wurde einer unserer Vögel sehr krank. Gerade unserem Sohnbedeuten die zahmen Tiere sehr viel. Sie vertrauen ihm und fliegen sofort zu ihm, sobald er das Zimmer betritt. Die Tierärztin sah nur eine einzige letzte Hoffnung. Sie riet uns, sofort in die Tierklinik nach Düsseldorf zu fahren. Ich war nach einem anstrengenden Arbeitstag mit anschließendem Arzttermin sehr müde und die Vorstellung, eine lange Zeit über volle Autobahnen in die Düsseldorfer Innenstadt zu fahren, war alles andere als verlockend. Uns tat das arme Tier sehr leid. Also machten wir uns kurz entschlossen auf dem Weg. Auf der Fahrt konnten wir wichtige Gespräche miteinander führen. In der Klinik kümmerte sich eine freundliche Ärztin sofort intensiv um das kranke Tier und behielt es in der Klinik. Obwohl wir am Abend völlig erschöpft waren, fühlten wir uns getröstet und wussten, dass es sich lohnt, zusammenzuhalten und gemeinsam etwas zu bewirken.

In the midst of the greatest stress of everyday life one of our birds became very sick. The tame animals mean a lot to our son in particular. They trust him and fly to him as soon as he enters the room. The vat saw only one last hope. He adviced us to go to the veterinary clinic in Düsseldorf immediately. The idea of driving for a long time on overcrowded motorways into downtown Düsseldorf was anything but tempted. We felt very sorry for the poor animal. So we make a quick decision on  our was. We were able to hold important conversations with each other on the way. In the clinic a friendly doctor immediately took care of the sick bird and kept him in the clinic. Although we were completely exhausted in the evening, we felt comforted and knew that it is worthwhile to stick together and to achieve something together.

Heute mal eine lustige Erfahrung: Ich war beim Bäcker um Brötchen zu kaufen, hatte aber nicht genug Geld dabei. Da bot mir die Bäckerin an, morgen zahlen zu können. Ich war bisschen unentschlossen und überlegte hin und her, ob ich das wirklich annehmen kann. Daraufhin sagte sie nochmal deutlich: Es ist überhaupt kein Problem, aber sag bitte einfach klar ja oder nein. Daraufhin nahm ich ihre Hilfe an und erkannte, daß selbst in so kleinen Dingen, Entschlossenheit wichtig ist.

Today I have a funny experience.I was at the bakery, but did not have enough money with me. So the woman, who was selling the bread, told me that I can get the bread now and come back to give her the money tomorrow. First I was doubting if I really should do that. While I was thinking the woman told me: Just say yes, or no, but make a decision, I told you already, for me it's not problem. So I said firmly: yes ok, thanks for your help. So also in little moments with have to be brave and  firmly.
